Regscan = scam (Skype: Windows Requires Immediate Attention/Malware)
Regscan is a scam. The business model is to trick gullible users that they have malware or viruses on their PCs and get them to pay for useless software.
This morning I got this message through SKYPE:
WINDOWS REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION
=============================ATTENTION ! Security Center has detected
malware on your computer !Affected Software:
Microsoft Windows Vista
Microsoft Windows XP
Microsoft Windows 2000
Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0
Microsoft Windows Win98
Microsoft Windows Server 2003Impact of Vulnerability: Remote Code Execution / Virus Infection /
Unexpected shutdownsRecommendation: Users running vulnerable version should install a repair
utility immediatelyYour system IS affected, download the patch from the address below !
Failure to do so may result in severe computer malfunction.
The only problem is that I'm not running Windows (I'm running Skype through Mac OS X). Of course, it didn't stop the fake virus scanner from confidently telling me that my windows operating system was infected with several viruses.

Hmm, the same thing just happened to me on my mac. What do you do to get rid of it?

This happened to me as well. I was pretty suspicious when it came up. Thanks for verifying that it is a scam. If anyone else gets the same message, don't be gullible! They just want your money!
